Sources: Orange County judge arrested at home in Anaheim following fatal shooting – Orange County Register

In a shocking turn of events, Orange County Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Ferguson was apprehended by Anaheim police on Thursday evening following the fatal shooting of his wife, as confirmed by multiple sources.

Anaheim police received a distress call at approximately 8 p.m. and swiftly arrived at their residence located on E. Canyon Vista Drive in the 8500 block. The investigation into the tragic death of Sheryl Ferguson is currently ongoing.

Sources have revealed that Judge Ferguson is currently being held at the Anaheim city jail.

No additional details have been disclosed at this time.

Prior to ascending to the bench in 2014, Jeffrey Ferguson served as an Orange County deputy district attorney for an impressive span of 31 years. Having joined the office in 1983, he established his expertise from the juvenile court to eventually becoming a senior deputy district attorney, specializing in the Major Narcotics Enforcement Team. He also oversaw the esteemed Probation Offender Search and Seizure Enforcement task force, which included the collaboration of 30 different state and local police agencies.

As a judge, Ferguson encountered public admonishment in 2017 from the state Commission on Judicial Performance due to an inappropriate remark he made about a judicial candidate on Facebook. More significantly, he was deemed in violation of the code of judicial ethics for remaining “friends” with attorneys who appeared before his court and posting a comment with a lack of regard for the truth.

In his campaign biography, Ferguson proudly acknowledged his wife’s professional background. She had previously served in both the Santa Barbara and Orange County Probation Departments before dedicating nearly two decades to working at the American Funds Service Company.
