Snoop Dogg Stands in Unity with WGA, SAG-AFTRA, Cancels Hollywood Bowl Performances

  • Snoop Dogg has announced that he will no longer perform at the Hollywood Bowl in October.
  • This decision is in solidarity with the Hollywood strikers.
  • The strikers, representing the Writers Guild and Screen Actors Guild, are fighting for improved working conditions.

The Doggfather, also known as Snoop Dogg, is once again using his influence to support Hollywood unions.

Rapper Snoop Dogg took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce the cancellation of two shows at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. This decision is a show of support for the writers and actors currently on strike with the Writer’s Guild of America and the Screen Actors Guild.

In his Instagram post, Snoop Dogg, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, wrote, “We regret to inform you that due to the ongoing strike and the uncertainty of when this will be over, we need to cancel the Hollywood Bowl show. We continue to stand in solidarity with all of our brothers and sisters in the WGA and SAG-AFTRA during this difficult time and remain hopeful that the AMPTP will come back to the negotiating table with a REAL proposal and we can all get back to work.”

The two shows, originally scheduled for June, were postponed due to the ongoing strikes in Hollywood.

Snoop Dogg has been vocal about his support for the strikes, which have brought the entertainment industry to a standstill as workers demand better wages and job protections.

Back in May, at the start of the writer’s strike, Snoop expressed his frustration with the low payments from streaming services, highlighting how it negatively affects artists’ ability to earn a living wage.

“The money is not being translated and it’s not working for the artist right now. And we need to find a way to figure that out…” Snoop stated at the 2023 Milken Institute Global Conference. He also brought attention to the plight of TV and movie writers, questioning how they can receive billions of streams without earning millions of dollars.

Representatives for Snoop Dogg have not yet responded to Insider’s request for comment.
