In Los Angeles County, the price of self-serve regular gasoline remained unchanged on Friday at $5.372 per gallon. This comes after a slight increase of two-tenths of a cent, bringing it to the highest level since November 18.
Compared to one week ago, the average price is now 1.8 cents higher. It has also risen by 26.2 cents over the past month and is currently 11.9 cents above the price from a year ago. However, it has significantly dropped by $1.122 since reaching a record high of $6.494 on October 5.
The Orange County average price experienced a series of 27 increases in 31 days, reaching its highest point since November 17. However, it recently decreased by two-tenths of a cent to $5.316. Over the previous 31 days, it had risen by 29.4 cents, with slight increments on both Wednesday and Thursday.
Comparatively, the current Orange County average price is 2.1 cents higher than one week ago, 27.1 cents higher than one month ago, and 14.8 cents above the price from a year ago. Similar to Los Angeles County, it has significantly dropped by $1.143 since peaking at a record $6.459 on October 5.
Doug Shupe, the Automobile Club of Southern California’s corporate communications manager, stated, “Gas prices are now slightly decreasing in Southern California. However, Los Angeles wholesale gas prices remain at their highest levels since November 2022. In order for pump prices to drop below $5 a gallon, they will need to decrease significantly.”
Nationally, the average price of gasoline has decreased by seven-tenths of a cent to $3.818. This follows a three-day streak of consecutive increases totaling nine-tenths of a cent, which came to a halt with a decrease of two-tenths of a cent.
Compared to one week ago, the national average price is now 1 cent lower. It is also 1.1 cents lower than one year ago but 3.8 cents higher than one month ago. Overall, it has significantly dropped by $1.198 since reaching a record high of $5.016 on June 14, 2022.
