Sinéad O’Connor’s Last Social Media Posts Focused on Her Beloved Son Shane

Sinéad O’Connor expressed her grief over the tragic loss of her son, Shane Lunny, in her final social media posts. These heart-wrenching tweets were shared on July 17, just before the news of O’Connor’s own passing became known. Shane Lunny, aged 17, died by suicide in 2022.

In one of her posts, O’Connor wrote, “Been living as undead night creature since,” alongside a photo of her embracing Lunny. She described him as the love of her life and the light of her soul. She further expressed, “We were one soul in two halves. He was the only person who ever loved me unconditionally. I am lost in the bardo without him.”

O’Connor also shared links to songs such as Curtis Mayfield’s “No One Knows About a Good Thing,” Al Green’s “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart,” and a recording of a Buddhist prayer dedicated to all mothers of children lost to suicide.

The news of O’Connor’s death was confirmed by her family in a statement to the BBC. They expressed their deep sadness and requested privacy during this difficult time.

Known for her powerful music, O’Connor gained international fame with her rendition of Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U” in 1990. She was also known for her outspoken views on politics and religion, often challenging the Catholic church in Ireland.

In a moment that sparked controversy, O’Connor tore a picture of Pope John Paul II on live TV in 1992 as a protest against child sexual abuse within the church.

In 2018, the artist converted to Islam and adopted the name Shuhada Sadaqat in her personal life while continuing to use the name O’Connor professionally.

O’Connor leaves behind three living children: Jake Reynolds, Roisin Waters, and Yeshua Bonadio.
