Shocking Incident in Salem: Driver Charged with OUI After Striking and Dragging Woman with Car


A shocking incident unfolded in Salem over the weekend when a woman fell victim to a drunk driver who struck and dragged her with his car, as detailed by the local law enforcement.

The Salem Police Department responded to the scene at 318 Essex Street around 7 p.m. Saturday following reports of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. The victim, a 35-year-old woman, had been hit and dragged beneath a gray Toyota Rav 4, requiring the assistance of concerned citizens to be freed.

Sustaining serious injuries, the woman was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. There is currently no update available regarding her condition.

Salem authorities conducted an investigation, ultimately leading to the arrest of 43-year-old Vasiliy Orlov from Salem. Orlov faces multiple charges including operating under the influence of liquor (3rd offense), speeding, negligent operation, marked lanes violation, leaving the scene of property damage, crosswalk violation, and having an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
