Second Woman, Evan Rachel Wood, Seeks Attorneys’ Fees in Case Against Marilyn Manson

Actress Evan Rachel Wood and another woman are seeking reimbursement for their attorneys’ fees from Marilyn Manson after winning the dismissal of defamation and emotional distress claims brought against them. In his lawsuit, Manson claimed that Wood, his former girlfriend, and her on-again, off-again romantic partner, Ashley Gore, falsely labeled him as a rapist and abuser, causing damage to his career. However, the claims against both women were dismissed by the court. Wood’s attorneys have filed a motion seeking nearly $390,000 in attorneys’ fees and costs, while Gore is requesting about $204,485.

Manson’s lawsuit alleged that the false sexual abuse allegations led to his record label and manager dropping him and losing his role in the television show “American Gods.” In response, Wood’s attorneys filed a motion to dismiss the defamation and emotional distress claims against her, citing First Amendment rights. Gore also filed her own motion based on anti-SLAPP laws to prevent the use of lawsuits as a means of intimidation against those exercising their First Amendment rights.

Manson further claims that Gore had conversations with prospective accusers, falsely alleging that his short film called “Groupie” depicted child abuse and pornography. Wood denies making false statements about the film or conspiring with Gore. Manson also alleges that Wood and Gore fabricated and distributed a fake letter from an FBI agent to create the illusion of danger to his alleged victims and their families.

Manson and Wood had a romantic relationship from 2006 to 2010. Manson vehemently denies Wood’s accusations of abuse, assault, rape, and threats.
