Netflix’s Squid Game Season 2 Set for Release in 2024
During the Tudum Global Fan Event in Brazil, Netflix revealed exclusive information and gave fans a first look at the highly popular South Korean thriller series “Squid Game” and its upcoming second season.
The teaser unveiled the cast lineup, which includes a combination of returning and new faces. Lee Jung-jae, known for his portrayal of the financially struggling Seong Gi-hun, will reprise his role in the highly anticipated second installment. He will be joined by Lee Byung-hun, who will once again play the enigmatic “Front Man,” and Wi Ha-jun, returning as the determined police officer involved in the dangerous world of brutal competition as he searches for his missing brother.
In addition to the returning cast members, the acclaimed series that debuted in 2021 and won six Primetime Emmys will feature new additions such as Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Sung-hoon, and Yang Dong-geun.
Although it remains uncertain if Oh Yeong-su, the remarkable actor who portrayed the elderly and seemingly ordinary Oh Il-nam in the first season of “Squid Game,” will return for the second season, it was revealed that his involvement in the game had a deeper complexity.
Production for the second season of Squid Game is set to begin in July according to reports. The upcoming season will showcase 456 participants engaging in deadly challenges, all competing for a substantial prize of $4.56 million. While the lethal games from the first season may not be present, the show is expected to maintain its gripping and intense essence. Netflix has officially announced that Squid Game: The Challenge will debut in November of this year.
