A 28-year-old man has been sentenced to 22 years to life in prison for the robbery and sexual assault of a man on his way to work in a Santa Ana park. This heinous crime was committed by Alec Sean Blake, who was found guilty in May of multiple felonies including kidnapping, forcible copulation, robbery, and assault causing great bodily injury.
The incident occurred at 4:35 a.m. on September 6th of last year. The victim was approached by Blake, who was riding a beach cruiser bike, at the intersection of Raitt and Adams streets. At gunpoint, Blake forced the victim to accompany him to Thornton Park where he subjected him to a forced oral sexual act. Disturbingly, Blake also asked the victim about engaging in anal sex, causing the victim to plead with him not to assault him in that way. This enraged Blake, who proceeded to physically assault the victim, repeatedly punching and kicking him until he lost consciousness. Blake then stole the victim’s phone and wallet before fleeing the scene.
Fortunately, the victim was able to trace the location of his phone using GPS and provided this information to the police. Using this evidence, the police began surveillance on Blake’s residence. They also discovered the defendant’s DNA on the victim’s shirt, further implicating him in the crime. It is worth noting that the defendant had used the victim’s phone to order food on two separate occasions.
