Samuel L. Jackson stood up for his frequent co-star, Brie Larson, and addressed the sexism she has faced since joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Jackson expressed his admiration for Larson’s resilience and called out the “incel dudes” who dislike strong women like Larson for voicing their opinions.

Jackson and Larson, known for their roles as Nick Fury and Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the MCU, have appeared in several films together. They formed a bond while working on “Kong: Skull Island” (2017) and collaborated again in Larson’s directorial debut film, “Unicorn Store” (2017).

During the filming of “Unicorn Store,” Jackson supported Larson after she felt disheartened by Donald Trump’s presidency. Their partnership continued in “Captain Marvel” and “Avengers: Endgame,” with their next collaboration being the upcoming “Captain Marvel” sequel, “The Marvels,” set to release on November 10.

“Captain Marvel,” the first female-fronted movie in the MCU, faced backlash from internet trolls who criticized Larson’s humor and her character’s confidence. They engaged in review bombing to lower the film’s scores on platforms like Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.

In a 2019 interview with Variety, Larson expressed that she didn’t pay attention to the negativity from fans, stating, “I have genuinely never needed to look at the internet to explain to me who I am.” Larson’s outlook resonated with Jackson, who commended her resilience and refusal to let critics bring her down.
