Sam Fender concludes second day of Trnsmt with a memorable set under heavy rain

The Trnsmt Festival’s second night came to a fiery close as the Newcastle rocker took the stage, captivating the audience with a spectacle of pyrotechnics, fireworks, and confetti. Reflecting on his journey from the festival’s humble beginnings, the rockstar remarked on the progression from performing on a small stage to headlining the main stage. Notably, many of his fans proudly wore black and white Newcastle strips, paying homage to Fender’s hometown.

Expressing his surreal experience, Fender stated, “We have played every stage at this festival, from a tiny stage over there to this magnificent main stage. It feels like nothing is real anymore.” The audience was treated to an electrifying performance of his popular tracks, including “Getting Started,” “Will We Talk,” and “Hypersonic Missiles,” before concluding with the fervent “Seventeen Going Under.”

In the midst of his set, the Geordie singer led the crowd in a spirited chant of “F*** the Tories,” expressing his disdain for the political party, a sentiment that has remained unchanged since his youth.

Kasabian, another esteemed performer, also graced the main stage with a riveting performance that included their hits such as “Club Foot,” “L.S.F,” and “Underdog.”

While the festivities at Glasgow Green were plagued by heavy rain, resulting in a muddy terrain, the thunderstorms forecasted throughout the day did not dampen the spirits of the festival-goers. Although the Met Office predicts further rain showers on Sunday, the weather is expected to improve later in the evening.

The final day of the festival will feature performances by The 1975, Royal Blood, Becky Hill, and The Kooks. With a turnout of approximately 50,000 attendees each day, the Trnsmt Festival, now in its seventh year, has established itself as a must-attend event.

Geoff Ellis, festival director at TRNSMT, expressed his satisfaction with Saturday’s events, stating, “Saturday at TRNSMT is always a special day, and this year was no exception. Witnessing Sam Fender, who has worked his way up the festival ranks, close the main stage was a proud moment. Kasabian set the bar high, and it was incredible to see fans discovering new music from artists like Swim School and Heidi Curtis. Despite the weather, the day was filled with thrilling live music performances.”
