Sad News: Beloved ‘The Young and the Restless’ Star, Billy Miller, Passes Away at Age 43 – National

Soap opera fans around the world are devastated by the loss of actor Billy Miller, renowned for his unforgettable performances on The Young and the Restless and General Hospital. Miller, who was only 43 years old, tragically passed away in Austin, Texas, just two days shy of his 44th birthday.

According to Miller’s manager, he was battling manic depression at the time of his death. It’s important to note that manic depression is now known as bipolar disorder. The cause of his death has not yet been disclosed to the public.

Originally from Grand Prairie, Texas, Miller kickstarted his career on All My Children in 2007. He then captivated audiences as Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless from 2008 to 2014. Miller’s portrayal of the troubled character, who transformed from a “spoiled rich boy” to an alcoholic, earned him a devoted following among the soap opera’s fans. Notably, Miller received three Daytime Emmy Awards for his outstanding performances, two for supporting actor in a drama series and one for lead actor in a drama series. He was the fourth actor to take on the role of Abbott on The Young and the Restless.

Miller later joined the cast of General Hospital, where he portrayed Jason Morgan from 2016 to 2017. He also took on the role of Morgan’s twin, Drew Cain, until his departure from General Hospital in 2019. In addition to his soap opera work, Miller appeared on shows like Suits, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Castle throughout his career.

Following his passing, many of Miller’s co-stars and fans shared heartfelt tributes. Risa Dorken, who plays Nurse Amy Driscoll on General Hospital, expressed her deep sorrow over the news, describing Miller as warm, kind, and incredibly talented. Eric Braeden, known for portraying Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless, mourned the loss of a gifted actor and recalled a time he supported Miller during challenging negotiations for a television role. Eileen Davidson, famous for her role as Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless, shared a touching throwback photo of her and Miller with their Daytime Emmy awards, reminiscing about his infectious charm and mischievous smile.

Throughout his career, Miller was open about his battle with tarsal coalition, a rare genetic condition that affects the connective tissues in a person’s tarsal bones, leading to foot pain and difficulty walking. Despite his condition, Miller credited his determination and love for his success in the industry.

Miller is survived by his mother Patricia, sister Megan, brother-in-law Ronnie, nephew Grayson, and niece Charley. The soap opera community and fans worldwide mourn the loss of this talented actor whose presence will be greatly missed.
