TORONTO – Jordan Romano has made his return to the Toronto Blue Jays’ roster, and there are indications that more injured players could be making their comeback on Friday.
Romano was reinstated from the 15-day injured list on Tuesday and secured his 29th save of the season as the Blue Jays narrowly defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 in a thrilling pitcher’s duel.
All-star shortstop Bo Bichette may rejoin the team as early as Friday after his stint on the IL.
The injured relievers Trevor Richards and Chad Green are also expected to return soon, and there are positive signs for centre-fielder Kevin Kiermaier.
“I think Bo’s impact on our offense speaks for itself,” said Toronto manager John Schneider. “Romano is our all-star closer. KK is also getting closer and he’s going to give his all on the field.”
“Trevor has been one of our best relievers, so this is a good time for guys to get healthy,” Schneider added.

Romano was placed on the injured list on July 29 due to lower back inflammation. Despite missing half a month of action, the Markham, Ont. right-hander remains third in the American League and tied for fifth in the majors with 29 saves in 32 attempts.
