Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel addressed the frustration within the GOP following recent election losses, emphasizing the RNC’s efforts to engage with voters.
During an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union,” McDaniel acknowledged the desire to win but expressed pride in the RNC’s outreach and mobilization efforts. Despite Democrats’ victories, she stated, “I’m proud of what we’re doing, and we’re a turnout machine. We don’t do the messaging; the candidates do that with their pollsters and their campaigns.” McDaniel also emphasized the RNC’s role in supporting candidates, comparing it to building a road for them to drive on.
One notable takeaway from the recent elections was the significant support for abortion rights among voters. Democrats leveraged reproductive rights to secure victories in Virginia, Ohio, and Kentucky. McDaniel defended the Republican stance on abortion restrictions while urging candidates to consider the perspectives of suburban women when discussing abortion policy.
In response to GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy’s call for her resignation, McDaniel dismissed him as seeking headlines and emphasized the need for Republicans to focus on opposing Democrats rather than internal conflicts.
