The dependable middle-innings reliever was placed on Toronto’s 15-day injured list due to neck inflammation on Thursday. Blue Jays manager John Schneider revealed that Richards had been pitching through the pain, but the team decided to prioritize his long-term well-being.
“Richards has been battling this issue in his last couple of outings,” said Schneider in his office. “We want to address it and eliminate it so he can be fully fit for the rest of the season.”
