Revenue of Eir experiences 7 percent increase, as reported

Sales in the period increased by 7%, reaching €318m. This growth can be attributed to the expansion of mobile postpay, data services, voice revenues, and the B2B division. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) rose to €145m, a €4m increase from the previous year. Eir noted that this growth was driven by higher fixed line and mobile sales.

Operating costs for the period were €99m, a 2% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Additionally, Eir’s fibre broadband base grew by 2%, totaling 852,000 customers at the end of June. Around 90% of the group’s broadband base is connected to Eir’s fibre network. The company’s fibre network now covers two million premises, indicating availability for connection by a retail broadband provider.

However, the group broadband base experienced a 1% decline year-on-year, totaling 945,000. On a positive note, TV subscriptions increased by 14%, with 91,000 customers signed up to the service. Eir’s total mobile customers reached approximately 1.367 million, marking an 8% increase from the previous year. The postpay customer base also saw a significant growth, with a rise of 11% and 105,000 subscribers.

Eir continues to roll out 5G across Ireland, providing ultra-fast internet in 567 towns and cities. CEO Oliver Loomes expressed confidence in the ongoing fibre to the home (FTTH) rollout, aiming to deliver high-speed broadband to 1.9 million premises or 84% of homes and businesses in Ireland by 2026.

Chief Financial Officer Stephen Tighe highlighted the growth in Eir’s fibre broadband base, total mobile customers, and the bundling of Eir fixed households.

Overall, Eir’s performance demonstrates positive momentum in sales, revenue growth, and expansion of its broadband and mobile customer base. The company’s strategic focus on connectivity and digital services positions it well for future success.
