Republicans Stand Firm as Calls Grow for Trump to Resign

According to a recent poll, the majority of respondents believe that Donald Trump should withdraw from the presidential race after being indicted. However, Republicans have a different perspective, with an overwhelming 82% stating that Trump should continue running. The overall support for Trump to stay in the race is at 43%, as reported by NPR-PBS NewsHour-Marist College poll and The Hill.

The poll asked participants whether Trump should drop out or continue running, taking into consideration the charges against him. 87% of Democrats and 58% of independents voted for Trump to drop out, according to US News & World Report. Interestingly, more independents now believe that Trump broke the law compared to the previous poll conducted in March, while more Republicans believe he did nothing wrong. “For now, Republicans remain steadfast in their support for Trump, regardless of the unfolding events,” said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute.
