Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is calling for Republican voters to find principled leaders who hold themselves to high values. In an appearance on Fox News, Raffensperger reiterated his desire to see a candidate with integrity lead the GOP in the 2024 presidential election. He did not endorse the criminal indictment of former President Donald Trump, but he did emphasize his support for the rule of law. Raffensperger believes that broad-based coalitions are necessary for Republicans to succeed not only in Georgia but nationwide. In an interview with CNN last month, Trump refused to regret asking Raffensperger to add votes to his 2020 count, telling the Secretary of State, “you owe me votes because the election was rigged” despite the lack of evidence. Trump traveled to Georgia on Saturday to speak at the state Republican convention, to which Raffensperger was not invited. Still, Raffensperger emphasized the importance of finding principled leaders within the Republican party who will hold themselves to high standards.
