Report: Stuck on PUP List, Arizona Cardinals’ Kyler Murray Unlikely to Practice

Two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Kyler Murray is expected to remain on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list for an extended period.

According to ESPN, Murray is eligible to join the Arizona Cardinals active roster on Monday, but it is unlikely that he will be ready to play for several more weeks, resulting in his continued placement on the PUP list.

Murray, the first overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, has been out of action since tearing his right ACL during a game against the New England Patriots in December.

If Murray remains on the PUP list after Monday, it is unlikely that he will return to the field until late October.

According to NFL policy, once a player has missed at least four games on the PUP list, the team has a five-week window to allow the injured player to resume practicing. Once the player returns to practice, the team then has three weeks to decide whether to include him on the official roster of 53 players.

If a player misses this window to rejoin the active roster, he must remain on the PUP list and sit out the entire season.
