Reentry Program: Woman Inmate Walks Away, Search Initiated.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation agents have launched a search for Aleisha Schmitz, a 25-year-old woman who reportedly walked away from the Custody to Community Transitional Reentry Program. Schmitz was last seen entering a silver or gray Mercedes-Benz outside the CCTRP around 7:10 PM on Sunday, just before officials were alerted by her monitoring device. The authorities were immediately notified, and local law enforcement agencies were dispatched to the scene. The inmate had entered the program on July 7, 2022, from Los Angeles County. She was serving a three-year sentence for second-degree robbery and hit-and-run causing injury to another person. Schmitz is 5 feet 4 inches tall, has brown hair, brown eyes, and a light complexion. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a blue jacket and gray sweatpants.

The CCTRP is a program designed for eligible inmates to serve their sentence within the community, receiving rehabilitative services to aid in their recovery from drug and alcohol addiction, education, housing, employment, and family reunification. It’s not clear from which Los Angeles County facility Schmitz walked away; however, there’s a 60-bed facility on 2756 James M. Wood Boulevard in Los Angeles and an 82-bed facility on 11121 Bloomfield Avenue in Santa Fe Springs. The authorities have asked the public to contact them or call 911 if they have any information on Schmitz’s whereabouts.
