Karen/Kerry’s assertion regarding Carrie abandoning their joint Hollywood project appeared dubious. Despite her personal life being in disarray, Carrie was rarely negligent in her professional responsibilities. (On a side note, I find it amusing to imagine Karen and Carrie brainstorming the concept for “27 Dresses,” a movie that I would gladly defend to anyone who is willing to listen.)
To expand on your previous point about the misrepresentation of journalists in film and TV, Marina, it is important to acknowledge that screenwriting requires a completely different skill set compared to traditional journalism. Therefore, it seems unlikely that Carrie would have attempted to transition into movies before establishing herself as a writer. However, guilt has always been a powerful motivator for Carrie (and I can certainly relate!), so Karen clearly knew how to manipulate her emotions. – Curtis
I concur, Curtis, that this storyline seemed questionable. While it is true that Carrie was “drunk for most of the ’90s” (lol), she would not have forgotten about a work meeting or completely erased a writing partner from her memory. Nevertheless, it was enjoyable to see Rachel Dratch make an appearance. – Marina
I’m not sure. I wouldn’t be surprised if ’90s Carrie was simply not enthusiastic about this project with Karen/Kerry and, instead of formally withdrawing, she chose to avoid confrontation by not showing up to their last meeting. Our girl tends to avoid conflict! Nonetheless, I always appreciate a Rachel Dratch cameo. – Lydia
