New The Voice coach Reba McEntire is getting comfortable in her red chair as the Season 24 Battle Rounds are fully underway. As a three-time Voice adviser dating all the way back to Season 1, Reba is in her element, putting her decades of experience to good use. Despite not always enjoying the audition process, Reba is willing to offer honest criticism to her contestants, delivering her critiques in a kind and gentle way. During the Battle Rounds, Reba mentored contestants Alison Albrecht and Angelina Nazarian, providing them with guidance on a performance of Lauren Daigle’s “You Say.” She instructed them to bring a ball of energy and convey the emotion of the song to the audience. However, during the actual performance, the contestants became nervous and forgot what they had been taught. Reba mildly scolded them, emphasizing the importance of portraying emotion to the audience. Ultimately, Alison was chosen to move on to the Knockout Rounds.
Reba also didn’t hesitate to offer guidance to singers from rival teams. When Team Niall’s contestants Julia Roome and Olivia Eden performed, Reba advised them to stay in the moment of the song and make eye contact with the audience. She commended Olivia’s standout voice and recognized Julia’s rare tone. Despite Julia’s voice not being perfectly suited for the song, she held her own and impressed the coaches with her adaptability.
While it remains to be seen how long Reba will remain on The Voice as a coach, it’s clear that she has made an impact on the show. Her experience, honesty, and guidance have been valuable to the contestants. Reba is slated to coach Season 25 next year, and Season 24’s Battle Rounds continue on Tuesday.
