Production on Tesla’s First Cybertruck Now Completed, Says the Company

Tesla has completed the production of its first Cybertruck, nearly four years after the vehicle was initially announced by CEO Elon Musk. Workers at Tesla’s Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, shared a photo of the completed truck on Twitter with the caption “First Cybertruck built in Giga Texas.” This achievement follows Musk’s unveiling of the silver, futuristic-looking vehicle in 2019, with plans to begin production in late 2021.

The Cybertruck features a stainless steel alloy body that is designed to withstand certain types of small arms fire, and it has an estimated towing capacity of 14,000 pounds.

The availability and pricing of the Cybertruck are currently unknown. According to Musk, the first deliveries are expected to take place between July and September. Tesla has not yet responded to requests for comment.

When the Cybertruck does become available, it will enter a competitive market for electric pickups. Competitors such as Rivian, General Motors, and Ford are already offering their own electric truck options. In fact, Ford recently reduced the prices of the Lightning by $6,000 to $10,000, citing easier access to the truck’s battery material.

Ford’s decision to lower prices may be influenced by the upcoming competition from the Cybertruck and other electric trucks like Rivian. Tesla initially announced three versions of the Cybertruck with prices ranging from $40,000 to $70,000, but later removed the prices from the pre-order page.
