Prior to discussing the Green New Deal, addressing our significant environmental liabilities is essential

In recent times, members of Congress, specifically radical environmentalists, attempted to pass a climate change agreement known as the “Green New Deal.” While this legislation did not gain approval and lacks popularity among the American people, Democrats are still pushing for certain aspects of the deal to be implemented at the state and local levels.

The Democrats, or “Spendocracts” as I like to call them, have become overly fixated on alternative energy, setting a dangerous precedent in our country’s leadership. Earlier this month, our nation faced the possibility of default because Joe Biden and the Democrats in Congress neglected to negotiate a budget until the last minute, despite Republicans’ ongoing attempts for nearly six months.

Instead of focusing on these immediate concerns, our leaders in Washington need to prioritize the issues that are affecting everyday Americans—what I like to call “kitchen table issues.” As a financial advisor, when my clients inquire about investing in energy-efficient windows or appliances, I ensure that they are financially prepared to meet their current obligations in case of unforeseen circumstances, such as job loss. Our team emphasizes the importance of having adequate savings to cover essential expenses.

I raise these questions because, similarly to the government, we ensure that our clients prioritize long-term considerations over short-term desires. Before the government begins regulating energy production and alternative resources, it is crucial to have our financial affairs in order to meet our financial obligations. As we witnessed earlier this month, that can be easier said than done.

REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS FIND COMMON GROUND IN ENERGY POLICY. WE’RE PROOF

As a recent graduate from Harvard with a master’s degree, a significant portion of my research focused on the impact of alternative energy and progressive environmental policies.

Progressive lawmakers are gradually implementing the Green New Deal by gradually introducing measures like banning livestock farming and gas stoves. It’s like the approach my wife and I took with our children, gradually introducing vegetables into their diet each night at dinner, knowing that eventually they would begin to eat them without protest.

Among the proposals put forth by Democrats, the ones who will be most negatively affected are lower- and middle-class Americans who cannot afford the proposed alternatives. For instance, imposing a consumption tax on animal-based proteins will force farmers and agricultural companies out of business, and lower- and middle-class Americans will be unable to afford plant-based alternatives that are significantly more expensive.

Furthermore, even if prices were to decrease due to economies of scale, studies consistently show that most consumers do not enjoy these products. Like many things in life, simply proclaiming something to be what it isn’t does not change reality. Fake meat remains… fake.

Aside from pursuing the progressive ideal of eradicating animal-based farming in the name of climate justice, these policies will lead to the bankruptcy of one of our nation’s most vital economic sectors. It is crucial that we possess self-sufficiency in meeting our agricultural demands to adequately feed our country.

BIDEN’S GREEN ENERGY POLICY STRENGTHENS CHINA, ENDANGERS NATIONAL SECURITY, REPORT FINDS

Through misguided agricultural policies, progressives are inadvertently providing resources and land to the Chinese Communist Party for the construction of EV battery plants on American soil, all while utilizing American labor.

Just an hour north of my residence in western Michigan, the Chinese Communist Party is establishing an EV battery plant spanning over 523 acres, consuming valuable resources such as land and water. The issue with the Gotion plant lies not necessarily in the production of EV batteries, but in the fact that both the federal government and the state government of Michigan are granting tax breaks and billions of dollars in subsidies to a Chinese company that mandates its employees to pledge loyalty to the Chinese Communist Party—it’s stated in their handbook!

The United States has always been recognized as a global innovator that values intellectual property. In contrast, China has a reputation for copying and stealing from its adversaries, manipulating products for its own economic gain.

The Green New Deal and progressive environmental policies pose threats to the foundation of our republic. Not only will they burden everyday Americans with unnecessary financial strains, but they will also compromise our national security.

We need leaders in Washington who are willing to challenge the status quo. We cannot allow our leaders to casually sell our trade secrets and land to the highest bidder, especially when that bidder is our greatest geopolitical adversary.

Prior to addressing alternative energy and new environmental policies, our country must address the issues contributing to historic inflation and worsening economic conditions. The American people cannot afford these policies, and as demonstrated by the federal government, neither can they.
