Police Searching for Suspect in Fatal Shooting at Long Beach Gas Station

Long Beach police are seeking the assistance of the public in solving the homicide of a Valero gas station employee. The employee was shot by a man he encountered in the parking lot of the business.

At approximately 10:05 p.m. on Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a person with gunshot wounds to his upper body in the 6900 block of Atlantic Avenue. The victim, an adult male, was found unresponsive in the parking lot of a local business, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided medical assistance until relieved by the Long Beach Fire Department, but the victim was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his relatives.

According to the preliminary investigation conducted by detectives, the victim confronted the suspect in the parking lot, leading to a confrontation in which the suspect shot the victim. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived.

No description of the suspect or his vehicle has been released, and the motive for the shooting remains unknown.

A witness at the scene reported hearing at least five gunshots, and police were observed searching a Nissan sedan outside the gas station for potential evidence.
