Police Conduct Home Search in Tupac Shakur Investigation

After more than two decades, investigators may have finally made a breakthrough in the investigation of Tupac Shakur’s 1996 murder. On Monday, police in Las Vegas executed a search warrant at a home in Henderson in connection with the killing of the rapper. Tupac was shot four times in a drive-by shooting on the Las Vegas Strip and succumbed to his injuries six days later. The search took place in Henderson, a suburb located less than 20 miles away from where the shooting occurred.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson confirmed that the search warrant was conducted in connection with the Tupac Shakur case. Lt. Johansson expressed hope that the long-unsolved case could be resolved. There have been no arrests in the case, and past investigations went cold due to a lack of cooperation from witnesses. Although Tupac was with Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight at the time of the shooting, authorities believe the rapper was the intended target.
