A 25-year-old man has been accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Corona and attempting to abduct a woman in Riverside. The police are now asking other potential victims to come forward as the investigation continues.
The suspect, Roderick Eugene Arline Jr. of Riverside, was arrested last month after a joint investigation by the Corona and Riverside police departments. He is facing charges of rape of a minor, forcible sodomy, oral copulation of a child, kidnapping to commit rape, assault resulting in great bodily injury, and attempted kidnapping.
Arline has denied the charges and is scheduled to appear for a felony settlement conference on October 2 at the Riverside Hall of Justice. He is currently being held at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta on $2.5 million bail.
The incidents occurred on July 21, when Arline allegedly lured the 13-year-old girl, a Riverside resident, into his Mercedes-Benz. He drove her to a location in Corona where he sexually assaulted her before eventually releasing her.
The subsequent investigation led detectives to identify Arline as the suspect. They connected him to another crime on the same night, where he allegedly attempted to abduct a woman. Although the woman was able to escape, she sustained injuries.
Authorities believe that Arline may have targeted other girls and women who have not yet come forward. They are urging anyone with information to contact the police.
Arline has no previous felony convictions in Riverside County.
