In Buenos Aires on the morning of July 18, 1994, a van arrived at the Argentine Israelite Mutual Association (AMIA) headquarters. The van was believed to be carrying around 275 kilograms of fertilizer and TNT. As a result of the subsequent explosion, the seven-story building was destroyed, 85 people lost their lives, and 300 others were injured.
Renowned author and former Navy SEAL Jack Carr announces new nonfiction series “Targeted” on significant acts of terrorism.
The AMIA was an institution serving the Jewish community, providing employment services and housing a library of rare books. The building also hosted meetings for Project Witness, an organization investigating Argentine collaboration with Nazis following World War II.
The driver of the van, Ibrahim Hussein Berro, who was killed in the explosion, was tentatively identified as a Lebanese citizen with ties to Hezbollah.
“Hezbollah carried it out at the direction of the Iranian regime,” revealed the U.S. State Department.
In May 2013, Alberto Nisman, the chief prosecutor assigned to investigate the bombing, presented evidence directly implicating Iran in the attack.
Jack Carr’s perspective on the June 14, 1985 terrorism incident involving an aircraft crew: “The crew’s bravery was nothing short of heroic.”
