Italy’s Piaggio Group is determined to strengthen its presence in the premium two-wheeler segment in India. As the demand for feature-rich options for mobility increases, the company believes it can cater to the needs of customers with its latest offering. Piaggio Vehicles, the company’s wholly-owned subsidiary in India, recently entered the mid-size bike market with the launch of the Aprilia RS 457.
With already five premium scooter models under the Aprilia and Vespa brands, Piaggio Group is well-established in the Indian market. Chairman and MD, Diego Graffi, stated that there is a growing trend of customers seeking more advanced features in their vehicles in various countries. This trend has now reached India, where consumers are expecting more than just a means of transportation.
Graffi mentioned that the demand for premium products in India has been on the rise. To meet these demands, the company plans to introduce the Aprilia RS 457 to the Indian market in January of next year. The bike will initially be available in select outlets in major cities, and later, in other regions as well. Graffi also revealed that the company aims to sell 60,000-70,000 scooters this year, consistent with their focus on the premium segment.
Alongside two-wheelers, Piaggio Vehicles also offers three-wheelers in the Indian market.
