The former Detroit Lions running back, D’Andre Swift, showcased his incredible skills as the Philadelphia Eagles dominated with three rushing touchdowns and an impressive 259 rushing yards in their recent game. Quarterback Jalen Hurts greatly benefited from Swift’s outstanding performance, scoring a pair of touchdowns thanks to Swift leading the offensive charge, pushing the team all the way to the 1-yard line.
In the second quarter, with the Eagles trailing 7-3, Hurts successfully sneaked in for his first touchdown, capping off an impressive 16-play, 75-yard drive. During this drive, Swift carried the ball eight times, gaining a total of 39 yards. On their opening drive in the third quarter, Swift’s quick burst through the left side after a Kirk Cousins fumble at the Vikings’ 7-yard line set up another touchdown for Hurts.
In the decisive fourth quarter, Swift powered through for a 2-yard touchdown, securing his first touchdown as an Eagle. Prior to this, he had already reached the milestone of his first 100-yard game since Week 1 of the previous season, coincidentally against the Eagles themselves.
In the aftermath of the Eagles’ less-than-stellar victory over the Patriots, the team’s first-year offensive coordinator, Brian Johnson, expressed his intention to involve Swift more in the offense. True to his word, Johnson provided Swift with more opportunities, and the running back delivered impressive results.
It is worth noting that Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell was unable to play due to a rib injury, making it easier for Swift to receive additional carries. However, considering Swift’s outstanding performance in this game, it will be difficult for the Eagles to reduce his workload going forward.
D’Andre Swift has exhibited flashes of brilliance throughout his time with the Lions, fueling anticipation of his potential to become a Pro Bowl-caliber, 1,000-yard rusher. Unfortunately, injuries have hampered his progress, causing him to miss at least three games each season. However, with his recent performance, Swift has given the Eagles 175 reasons to be optimistic about his future with the team.
“He’s amazing,” exclaimed Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith. “He’s a bad m———–.”
