Philadelphia Eagles Receive Help With Signing of Three-Time All-Pro Linebacker Shaquille Leonard
The long-awaited addition of Shaquille Leonard to the Philadelphia Eagles roster has finally been announced. The Eagles have struggled to fill the linebacker position and hope the three-time All-Pro will strengthen their defense for the rest of the 2023 season. Leonard’s signing follows that of other veteran players, including Kevin Byard, Bradley Roby, and Julio Jones.
Leonard, who previously played for the Indianapolis Colts, joins the Eagles after a challenging start to the season with injured starting linebackers Nakobe Dean and Zach Cunningham leaving the defense vulnerable. The Eagles’ need for outside help became all too apparent during their recent game against the 49ers. Remarkably, Leonard chose to join the Eagles over their rival, the Dallas Cowboys, who they are set to play against this coming week.
Coach Nick Sirianni spoke highly of Leonard, mentioning their prior working relationship. Furthermore, Leonard has a track record of making impactful plays and defending the team, making him a valuable addition to the Eagles.
Despite Leonard’s recent injury setbacks, his prior record as a three-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro has set high expectations for his performance with the Eagles. Sirianni is eager to see the difference Leonard can make in contributing to the team.
