- Pete Davidson reminisced about his mother’s defense against online trolls on Twitter.
- Amy Davidson had a secret account where she would respond to tweets, but she mistakenly used her own picture as her profile image.
- The comedian expressed, “She’s always got my back.”
Renowned comedian and actor, Pete Davidson, revealed that during his tenure on “Saturday Night Live,” his mother would protect him from online trolls by using a secret Twitter account. However, her true identity was exposed when she mistakenly used her own photo as the profile picture.
During a recent episode of the “Family Trips with the Meyer Brothers” podcast, Davidson recounted his mother, Amy, creating “a fake Twitter account” to address the negative comments he faced. Davidson stated, “It was my second or third year, and there were a lot of unhelpful, typical Twitter comments. My mom went ahead and made a fake Twitter account under the username @JoeSmith1355 and would respond to everyone.”
However, Davidson mentioned that his mother’s responses were too specific, arousing suspicion about the true person behind the account. “But it was so specific, like, ‘Actually, I heard he’s working on himself and does that quite often,'” Davidson shared.
It became easy to uncover that the account belonged to Davidson’s mom because she used her own name and photo as the profile details. Davidson added, “This was the kicker. Everyone found out it was my mom, not through detective work. They found out because her username was @JoeSmith, but her profile name was Amy Davidson, and the profile picture was Amy Davidson, a picture of my mom, with a name that said @JoeSmith1355, commenting on all these haters.”
Despite the exposure, Davidson appreciates his mother’s unwavering support, affirming, “She’s always got my back.”
