A minor incident occurred at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, leading to the cancellation of this week’s shows for “Les Miserables.”
Upon arrival at 6233 Hollywood Blvd. on Thursday morning, firefighters discovered smoke in an electrical room and a slightly lesser amount in a backstage area, as reported by Brian Humphrey from the Los Angeles Fire Department.
No flames were detected by the firefighters. However, the theater staff informed them that there had been a previous issue with a transformer, according to Humphrey.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
Initially, the shows for Thursday and Friday nights were canceled, but as of Friday afternoon, the cancellations were extended through the weekend.
The theater officials posted on social media, “Due to an electrical outage that caused a minor fire at the Hollywood Pantages, all performances of ‘Les Miserables’ until Sunday, Aug. 27, 6:30 p.m. have been canceled.”
The statement further mentioned, “Although no harm was done to anyone, there was minor damage to the building, which we are currently addressing.”
Performances are expected to resume on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 7:30 p.m.
All ticketholders for the canceled shows will receive automatic refunds through their original payment method.
