He stated that if he becomes president, he will not only appoint a new attorney general and FBI director but will also clean house on the entire top floor of the department. The appointment of U.S. Attorney David Weiss as special counsel in the federal investigation into Hunter Biden by Attorney General Merrick Garland drew criticism from Republicans, who viewed it as a cover-up. Pence expressed his lack of confidence in the special counsel’s probe and put more faith in the investigation led by House Republicans.
Pence believes that the pattern of the Justice Department’s actions during his time in the White House and afterward has undermined public confidence in equal treatment under the law. Pence emphasized the importance of knowing whether President Biden’s family or Biden himself received financial benefits from foreign nationals during his vice presidency.
In the current GOP primary, Pence is polling in fourth place with 5.2% of the vote, trailing behind Vivek Ramaswamy at 6.1%, Ron DeSantis at 15.1%, and former President Donald Trump, who leads with 54.2% according to the RealClearPolitics national average.
