Erin Honeycutt, a 38-year-old from Michigan, has spent two years growing her beard, measuring an impressive 11.8 inches. This achievement was officially recognized by Guinness World Records.
Honeycutt’s battle with PCOS, a condition that causes hormone imbalances and can result in excessive hair growth in women, began at the age of 13. She spent years dealing with this by shaving and waxing until her wife encouraged her to embrace her beard during the COVID-19 lockdown.
In her own words, Honeycutt shared, “It really gave me a chance to build my confidence in growing a beard. Wearing masks really helped with building my confidence in going out in public.”
It is noteworthy that Honeycutt’s beard is completely natural, as she does not take any supplements or hormones. The previous record holder was Vivian Wheeler, a 75-year-old woman with a 10.04-inch beard.
Reflecting on her accomplishment, Honeycutt expressed her surprise and gratitude, saying, “I never thought that I would be able to attain or achieve a goal that would let me be in a book, and it’s just kind of a nice thing to be recognized for, even though it’s just something that happens naturally for me.”
