Patrick Kielty starts search for ‘Toy Show superheroes’ as applications open for Late Late Toy Show

Kielty’s Late Late Toy Show is calling for young toy demonstrators and performers to apply. This year, Ryan Tubridy will not be hosting the show, making it the first time in 14 years. Tubridy left his presenting duties before the RTÉ payments controversy was revealed, and there was no connection between the two events, according to the broadcaster. Comedian Patrick Kielty will take on the role of host on September 15.

Kielty encourages children across Ireland to apply, reminiscing about his own childhood dreams. He invites applicants to share why they should be a part of his first Late Late Toy Show, regardless of their background. Kielty advises hopefuls to dream big as dreams can come true.

The show producers are in search of young individuals who are willing to demonstrate a toy or perform on the show. Parents and guardians are required to answer a series of questions about their child, including what makes them special and what their Christmas wish is. They must also explain who their child’s hero is and why, as well as providing a creative video of their child’s demonstration. The application deadline is October 1.

Kielty expresses his excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to host the Late Late Show, following in the footsteps of previous hosts. He has signed a three-year contract for 30 episodes annually. Kielty reveals that he will be paid €250,000 per series, with additional episodes compensated on a pro-rata basis. He has decided to cover his own flight and accommodation expenses and has requested that RTÉ carbon offset his flights. Kielty is eager to get started and hopes this information clarifies the situation.
