Irvine police have apprehended a man and a woman believed to be connected to a tragic car-to-car shooting in the city.
As per Orange County sheriff’s inmate records, the arrests took place on Friday.
Sergeant Karie Davies of the Irvine Police Department stated that the shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday at the intersection of Athel Avenue and Sego Street.
Following the incident, detectives received information indicating that potential suspects resided in the vicinity of the shooting, specifically in the residential area east of Jamboree Road and west of Harvard Avenue known as Kensington Park and Saint James.
Davies explained, “A search warrant was issued for the residence due to the seriousness of the crime. The Irvine Police Department’s Special Weapons and Tactics Team was activated to secure the area, and announcements were made requesting the occupants to exit the premises.
Jayden Browndorf, a 21-year-old resident of Irvine, and Noah Farmer, a 22-year-old resident of Tustin, were apprehended without any resistance.
The victim, identified as 19-year-old Nicholas Alistair Neaimi-Pour, was shot while seated in the passenger seat of a Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
Davies added, “A white Honda Civic approached the Mercedes and an individual emerged from the vehicle, opening fire and inflicting multiple gunshot wounds.”
Despite his injuries, Neaimi-Pour managed to exit the Mercedes, with nearby residents offering assistance until emergency responders arrived. Meanwhile, the driver of the Mercedes and the occupants of the Honda fled the scene.
Neaimi-Pour was swiftly transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Davies affirmed, “It is evident that he was purposely targeted.” She also mentioned that the police suspect the location of the incident may have been arranged in advance for those involved.
