This summer, I have an exciting adventure planned. I will be embarking on an eight-day hike along the picturesque northern Spanish coast towards Bilbao as part of the famous Camino de Santiago. This will be my first time going on a holiday where I haven’t pre-booked accommodation, relying solely on recommendations from friends, YouTubers, and Shirley MacLaine’s The Camino for guidance. To ensure a successful trip, here are some essential items that I will be taking with me:

Columbia Newton Ridge 24l hiking backpack (Price: £80) – This backpack is equipped with an integrated rain cover and a waterproof main compartment, perfect for unexpected summer showers. It’s also designed to evenly distribute weight, ensuring a comfortable hiking experience. Wish me luck as I set off on this adventure with my trusty backpack.

Toast organic cotton ticking-stripe pillowcase (Price: £19) – A tip from my best friend’s mother, a seasoned Camino traveler, is to bring a pillowcase that can be easily put on and taken off each night at the different accommodations along the way. I’ve chosen this soft, organic cotton pillowcase from Toast for added comfort during my nights on the Camino.

Merrell Women’s Moab 3 outdoor shoes (Price: £110) – These lightweight shoes made from recycled materials are the perfect hybrid between sneakers and hiking boots. Not only are they functional on the trail, but they also look great for casual wear. A versatile option for my Camino journey.

Oakley Actuator sunglasses with prism grey lenses (Price: £138) – I wanted a pair of sunglasses that could seamlessly transition from hiking to my daily activities without compromising on lens quality. These Oakleys fit the bill perfectly, providing both style and functionality.

Craghoppers linen-mix Nosibotanical Bralio shirt (Price: £50) – While not your typical hiking gear, I’ve decided to pack a linen shirt for one night out in San Sebastian and another in Bilbao. This wardrobe staple is easy to pair with any bottoms and ideal for warm summer evenings. Plus, it has the added benefit of insect repellent treatment, keeping pesky bugs at bay.

Mantle The Face Jelly Super-Hydrating Gel Moisturiser (Price: £64) – Recently, I’ve discovered this lightweight and hydrating gel moisturizer from Mantle, and it has quickly become my go-to. Unlike other gels or water-based creams, this one truly is lightweight and absorbs into the skin within seconds, leaving no residue. Packed with antioxidants, it’s the perfect moisturizer for my Camino journey.

I hope these essentials will enhance my experience on the Camino de Santiago. Stay tuned for updates on my incredible adventure.
