Olivia Rodrigo Discusses ‘Vampire’ and Rumored Dispute With Taylor Swift

Olivia Rodrigo has addressed the rumors surrounding her upcoming album, “Guts,” and the speculation that one of the songs, “Vampire,” is about Taylor Swift. In an interview with The Guardian, Rodrigo spoke about fans theorizing that the lyrics of the song refer to Swift, referring to an unnamed “bloodsucker, fame-fucker.” However, Rodrigo declined to confirm or deny the rumors, stating that she prefers not to pigeonhole her songs to one specific subject. She expressed surprise at people thinking the song was about Swift.

The rumors of a strained friendship between Rodrigo and Swift intensified when Rodrigo revealed in July that she had not attended any of Swift’s Eras Tour shows. However, Rodrigo explained in a previous interview with Rolling Stone how “Vampire” came about, discussing the gothic-inspired chords and the fun songwriting opportunities it presented.

“Guts” is scheduled for release on September 8th.
