Officer from LAPD Detained in Upland Following Accusations of Bar Assault

An LAPD officer with 28 years of experience, Arthur Contreras, was arrested by Upland police on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The incident occurred around lunchtime at an undisclosed bar, where Contreras allegedly followed a fellow patron into the bathroom and attempted to stab him in the chest. However, he ended up cutting the man’s arm instead. Contreras, who was assigned to the Detective Support and Vice Division, has been released on bail after being booked into the West Valley Detention Center. He is now on administrative leave as both the LAPD’s Internal Affairs Division and the District Attorney’s Office conduct investigations.

Further details about the arrest and the incident are yet to be disclosed by authorities. Contreras is scheduled to have an initial appearance at the Rancho Superior Courthouse on Friday morning.
