OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush Creates a Game-Changing Invention: Billionaire ‘Mousetrap’ Inspired by a Kinship

Karl Stanley, who had experienced a dive in the Bahamas aboard the Titan sub, accuses OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush of knowingly creating a “mousetrap for billionaires” that would inevitably lead to disaster.

Stanley, a close friend of Rush’s, decided to speak publicly after the tragic deaths of five individuals, including Rush, during a trip to explore the RMS Titanic wreckage in June. However, Stanley had previously warned his friend about the dangers associated with the Titan sub.

In an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Stanley stated, “He definitely knew it was going to end like this. He literally and figuratively went out with the biggest bang in human history that you can go out with. And he was the last person to murder two billionaires at once and have them pay for the privilege.”

Stanley further emphasized that, in his opinion, the failure of the Titan’s carbon fiber tube was the primary cause of the vessel’s implosion during its final trip. Experts had previously supported this theory, noting that carbon fiber is not typically used in underwater subs.

The US Coast Guard, along with international agencies such as the Transportation Safety Board of Canada and the United Kingdom Marine Accident Investigation Branch, is conducting an investigation into the events leading to the implosion.

“I believe Stockton was designing a mousetrap for billionaires,” Stanley stated, referring to the submersible.

Prior to the incident, Stanley had expressed concerns to Rush about hearing “cracking” sounds, indicating a potential defect in the hull that could lead to catastrophic failure. However, Rush dismissed Stanley’s warnings and disregarded criticisms from industry experts, which, Stanley believed, only fueled Rush’s determination to proceed with the sub.
