Christina Aguilera added an extra touch of glamour to New York’s LGBTQ+ Pride celebrations this weekend, thanks to a surprise performance with Adam Lambert. Lambert joined Aguilera onstage at her NYC Pride Island concert, held at the Brooklyn Army Terminal, for an electrifying rendition of “Lady Marmalade.” The performance was a delightful surprise for Lambert, who was invited to join Aguilera after wishing her good luck before her performance. Lambert expressed his excitement on Instagram, calling Aguilera an iconic diva whom he has admired since 2000. He thanked her for the surreal moment and celebrated NY Pride.
Aguilera’s concert featured a 13-song set filled with her hit songs. Highlights included performances of “Can’t Hold Us Down” and “Fighter” from her 2002 album “Stripped,” as well as a beautiful duet of “Say Something” with Ian Axel from A Great Big World. Aguilera and Lambert had been planning to collaborate for some time, even discussing a joint tour before the COVID-19 pandemic forced postponements.
This was Aguilera’s second performance in New York over the weekend. On Friday night, she sang three of her classics at Stonewall Day, a fundraiser for the Stonewall National Monument Visitor Center. Aguilera received GLAAD’s Advocate for Change Award earlier this year for her advocacy work within the LGBTQ+ community.
