Nonprofits Can Now Apply for Assistance Funds in Rancho Mirage

Rancho Mirage officials announced on Monday that the city is now accepting applications for its Special Assistance Funds. These funds are specifically designed to provide support to local nonprofits for the fiscal year 2023-24.

City officials have allocated a budget of $103,000 to support organizations that hold a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. The program is open for applications until August 30th and aims to enhance the city’s living environment, assist low-income households, and empower residents to minimize their reliance on public assistance.

In order to prioritize the allocation of funds, nonprofit organizations focusing on food and shelter will be given preference. They can request up to $10,000 from the fund. Healthcare, senior, or children-focused nonprofits will also be prioritized, with a maximum request amount of $5,000. Arts and cultural or miscellaneous organizations will have lower priority.

Organizations receiving more than $5,000 will need to sign a contract and provide original invoices or other relevant documentation for fund reimbursement. Funds under $5,000 will be treated as grants by the city.

During the previous year, a total of 30 organizations, including Amy’s Purpose Inc., Angel View, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Desert Arc, Galilee Center, Jewish Family Service of the Desert, and Shay’s Warriors, were awarded funds totaling $86,000 for various programs.

Qualified organizations can find detailed information and submit their applications at ranchomirageca.gov/business/doing-business-with-the-city-of-rancho-mirage/nonprofit-funding/.
