June 22 (UPI) — Netflix offers a sneak peek into the world of the much-anticipated series, The Chosen One.
The streaming giant unveiled a captivating teaser and announced the premiere date of August 16 for this enthralling apocalyptic fantasy.
The Chosen One draws inspiration from the renowned comic trilogy American Jesus penned by Mark Millar and Peter Gross. The narrative revolves around Jodie (Bobby Luhnow), a 12-year-old boy who surprisingly discovers his divine abilities like Jesus.
“While the Evangelical and Yaquí leaders strive to motivate him to save humanity with his extraordinary powers, Jodie’s sole desires are to impress his crush and overcome his tormentors. As Jodie valiantly wrestles with his destiny, the revelation of his true identity plunges everything into disarray,” states an official synopsis.
The stellar cast includes Dianna Agron, Lilith Amelie Siordia Mejia, Juan Fernando González Anguamea, Jorge Javier Arballo Osornio, and Alberto Pérez-Jácome Kenna.
This Netflix series will notably be set in Mexico, adding an authentic touch to the mythological aspects and intensifying the apocalyptic atmosphere,” remarked Millar.
