National news: 17-year-old poised to graduate high school with three college degrees.

Tristan Andrade, a brilliant 17-year-old high school student from Arizona, has a bright future ahead of him.

Andrade is set to graduate from high school in June, but unlike his peers, he has something special to celebrate – three college degrees.

The young prodigy started taking college-level classes in Grade 6 and by Grade 8, he was enrolled in a concurrent education program at Estrella Mountain Community College.

Although Andrade is homeschooled, he would attend his college courses either online or on the college campus after his regular school day.

On May 19, Andrade will be receiving his three associate degrees in artificial intelligence (AI), computer science, and mathematics. His goal is to pursue a career in AI, a field he is deeply passionate about.

When interviewed by Good Morning America, Andrade expressed that taking college courses during high school has saved him time and money, enabling him to pursue his interests at an accelerated pace.

Rey Rivera, the president of Estrella Mountain Community College, acknowledged that while there are 1,500 students in the early college programs, Andrade’s situation is truly unique.

Andrade expressed his excitement, stating, “It feels amazing… It marks the beginning of a new chapter in my journey.”

Andrade’s parents shared their joy about their son’s achievements. His father, Maynard Andrade, said, “I’m absolutely amazed that he was able to accomplish all this before most people even graduate high school.”

In September, Andrade will continue his academic journey at Arizona State University, majoring in AI and computer science as part of an accelerated 4 + 1 program that leads to a bachelor’s and master’s degree. He aspires to become an AI engineer in the future.

Andrade, who will perform the U.S. national anthem at his graduation, is ready to shape his own destiny.
