‘My Extraordinary Journey: Purchasing My First Rolls Royce at 20 and Unveiling What’s to Come’

When teenagers pass their driving test, they usually start off with a small hatchback and a tiny engine. As they enter their early to mid-20s, they might upgrade to a slightly bigger car with a slightly bigger engine. However, for radio presenter and journalist Cormac Boylan, that level of progression wasn’t enough.

At the young age of 20, Boylan made the bold decision to buy a second-hand Rolls Royce and immerse himself in the world of prestigious and luxurious cars. In a recent interview with Express.co.uk, Boylan shared more about his automotive journey – his past, present, and ambitions for the future.

Talking about his first encounter with the car, Boylan said, “I was studying creative media and journalism in college, and I started thinking about getting a nice car.” Although he initially considered high-performance Italian cars, his attention soon shifted closer to home.

He explained, “Originally, I had my eye on a Maserati Quattroporte, but I wanted something more stylish. That’s when I stumbled upon a 1989 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit II, painted in my favorite color, Lagoon Blue. I knew I had to buy it.”

Driving the Silver Spirit II felt like “floating on a cloud inside Buckingham Palace,” according to Boylan.

This marked the beginning of Boylan’s thrilling automotive adventure. At the age of 21, he purchased a Bentley Arnage, which he humorously compared to a seal dragging its belly on the floor. After a year with the Arnage, Boylan acquired another Rolls Royce – a Silver Shadow that had been abandoned in a car park near his home in Leicester.

While owning classic Rolls Royces may be a dream for many, Boylan emphasized the importance of being financially prepared for any potential issues. He warned aspiring young owners that they must consider not only the cost of purchasing such cars but also the expenses involved in maintaining and repairing them.

Instead of resting on his current car collection, Boylan has his sights set on a future purchase – a Bentley Continental GT. Additionally, he aspires to follow in the footsteps of Jeremy Clarkson and Chris Evans by hosting a popular automotive show.

Expressing his ambitions, Boylan said, “I want to expand my presence on national TV and radio, just like Chris Evans and Jeremy Clarkson. My goal is to entertain and give back to people. I want viewers to enjoy watching me and feel entertained because that’s what I love doing.”
