Musk Announces Twitter’s Brand Transformation, Vows to Remove ‘All the Birds’

Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter, announced on Sunday that the social media platform will undergo a rebranding, incorporating an “X” in its logo and phasing out all bird-related elements.

In a tweet, Musk stated, “[S]oon we shall bid adieu to the Twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.”

Musk further explained in a subsequent post that if a suitable X logo is shared that night, the new design will be rolled out globally the next day.

To illustrate his vision, Musk shared an image of a white Twitter bird against a grainy black backdrop and commented, “Like this but x,” highlighting the desire to capture the imperfections that make each individual unique.

Additionally, Musk pinned a tweet featuring a three-second video of a flashing X.

Prior to initiating a poll to determine whether to change the default platform color to black, Musk tweeted, “Paint It Black.”

Since purchasing Twitter for $44 billion last year, Musk has implemented a series of changes. He renamed the company from “Twitter, Inc.” to “X Corp.”

Some of Musk’s decisions have sparked controversy. Recently, Twitter announced a limitation on the number of direct messages a user can send to combat spam, which some criticized for potentially promoting its paid service, Twitter Blue.

This policy alteration follows Twitter’s earlier decision to curtail the number of posts non-paying users can view daily.

In addition to his involvement in the artificial intelligence field through xAI, Musk has expressed interest in developing “X,” an all-encompassing app modeled after China’s WeChat.

In October 2022, Musk tweeted, “Buying Twitter is an accelerant to creating X, the everything app. Twitter probably accelerates X by 3 to 5 years, but I could be wrong.”
