In a significant development, a 41-year-old man with a long history of violent crimes, who was suspected of sexually assaulting a woman he met through an online dating service, has been apprehended in Moreno Valley. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported that deputies responded to a call about an assault with the intent to commit rape at around 3:05 a.m. on Sunday in the vicinity of Alessandro and Paris boulevards in Moreno.
According to the victim, she had met Marque Deshone Rogers through an online dating service. Rogers, after coercing her into the back of a nearby business, held a knife to her neck and demanded sexual acts from her. Fortunately, she managed to escape unharmed and immediately called 911 for help.
Following the incident, Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station investigators pursued various leads to gather evidence regarding the sexual assault. Eventually, they identified Rogers as a person of interest. Due to his extensive criminal history, the Felony Warrant Extradition Team took him into custody without delay.
Rogers was arrested at his residence in Moreno Valley on Monday, and he has been booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center. Notably, his bail has been set at $1 million.
