Alvin Pasaol displayed an outstanding performance in the fourth quarter, scoring 16 of his 25 points, leading Meralco to a 96-83 victory over NLEX in the PBA On Tour held at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Pasaol showcased his long-range shooting skills, making seven three-pointers that played a crucial role in the Bolts’ sixth win out of nine games.
Assistant coach Reynel Hugnatan praised Pasaol’s dedication to improving his outside shooting, as the player has been putting in extra work in practice.
Meralco played without head coach Luigi Trillo, who was attending a coaching clinic and the NBA Summer League in the United States. Active consultant Nenad Vucenic took charge of the team, and they also welcomed the presence of Aaron Black in the exhibition series. Black contributed with nine assists in 18 minutes, providing valuable support on the court in the absence of Chris Banchero, Anjo Caram, and Chris Newsome.
This loss marked NLEX’s fifth defeat in eight matches, coinciding with the debut of new addition Robbie Herndon. Despite Herndon’s effort of scoring 10 points in 24 minutes, San Miguel Beer left him unsigned after his contract expired in June.
Don Trollano led the scoring for the Road Warriors with 17 points in a game that experienced a 15-minute delay in the fourth quarter due to ceiling leaks caused by heavy rain.
