Aslı Özen Turhan, the Chief Marketing Officer at pladis UK&I, expressed excitement over the return of this fan favorite.

Incorporating white chocolate, the biscuits offer a delightful twist to the classic Digestive. They still feature a crumbly base, but now with a layer of smooth white chocolate on top.

This news follows a recent discovery made by some shoppers regarding the origin of the Digestives’ name.

Scottish comedian Gary Meikle shared a TikTok video explaining the origins of the Digestives, which surprised many.

Meikle’s American girlfriend was shocked to learn that Digestives were developed by Scottish doctors in 1839 as a aid for digestion due to the inclusion of sodium bicarbonate, a laxative.

With this revelation, Meikle humorously questions why such information was not taught in school.

Digestives are most commonly associated with McVities, although the recipe for the popular biscuit was not developed by them until 1892.

The name “Digestive” comes from the belief that these biscuits had antacid properties at the time, thanks to the inclusion of sodium bicarbonate.
