Google Drive is launching the newly redesigned Android document scanner for the first time on the iPhone and iPad. Read more here.
To access the scanner, look for the new camera FAB (floating action button) above the existing “plus” in the bottom-right corner. This will open a viewfinder that can automatically take the scan. Additionally, manual capture is available at the bottom.
The camera assists in positioning your document for the highest quality scan and supports back-to-back shots for multi-page documents. Simply tap the preview in the bottom-left corner to adjust the boundaries, rotate, and apply filters, such as Color, Grayscale, Black & White, and Photo.
After tapping “Save,” Google’s machine learning will suggest a relevant title using US location data. It will provide a store location in addition to the date for a receipt document type. Users can also choose where to store the PDF before uploading.
The Google Drive document scanner for iPhone and iPad is rolling out now (version 4.2023.46227) for all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google Accounts. Learn more here.
